Our mission is to enhance your ability to collaborate successfully so that you can continue to reach your goals and shape a better future for tomorrow.

To be successful in developing creative and long-lasting solutions for the future, it is imperative to break down silos and integrate the ideas and concepts from the community, experts, and team members. Thus, decision makers, such as yourself, are increasingly required to have the knowledge and skills to quickly establish collaborative networks and to make decisions in uncertainty by relying on the ability and expertise within those collaborative networks. Yet we, as individuals, are rarely taught in school or trained how to successfully collaborate with others. We guess and we try.

Sometimes, we are lucky and it works. Though we are not always sure why. We are left saying “it was just a good group of people” and, unfortunately, we are unable to replicate those same successful collaborative efforts in other areas or on other projects.  

In order to shape a better future for tomorrow by developing holistic solutions for our complex problems of today, we must move beyond simply putting people in a room and hoping for inclusive collaboration to occur, the right information will be incorporated in the “right” way, or an agreed upon solution will emerge. We must integrate tried and true best practices identified in social science to foster the growth of collaboration, and sustain that growth through clear, transparent, and inclusive, decision-making processes.

As a formally trained social scientist in collaborative decision making and practicing decision analyst, Kimberly Horndeski founded Community Consulting so that experts and community members could focus on their expertise while engaging in an inclusive, collaborative process designed to develop creative and durable solutions for the future.  And at Community Consulting, that is just what we do!
